Summer Skincare Tips

​Summer is here - humid weather and hot summer sun call for adjustments to your skin & beauty routine.
Here are some things to consider for the summer season:


This time of year, it's a good idea to change your pillowcases, clean your makeup brushes, and clean your phone more frequently.

Hairstyles with loose hair can trap sweat and oil around the face, causing breakouts and premature SPF wear off, leading to hyperpigmentation.

Depending on your outdoor activities and sun exposure, we might switch up the facial you get. If you normally get a chemical peel containing a lot of exfoliants and brighteners for instance, we might do something else depending on the condition of your skin at the time of treatment.

A good Oxygen Facial will balance your skin and help it recover from the summer elements. Oxygen Facials are incredibly soothing, refreshing, and luxurious. If you've had too much sun, get an Oxygen Facial from us. Oxygen Facials are also great before any special event for a radiant glow.

Skincare services and too much sun don't mix. Be aware that using exfoliants and skin brighteners in the treatment room or at home can result in hyperpigmentation if the skin is not protected from the sun. Please be sure to protect your skin from the sun before and after your treatment (including all facials and waxing). Let us know if you've accidentally overexposed yourself to the sun before your service so we can make any needed adjustments.

SPF should be reapplied every two hours. If you don't think you can stick to applying SPF throughout the day, please consider eliminating any at-home exfoliants and brighteners to prevent any accidents (burns, sun damage, moisture loss, hyperpigmentation & premature aging)

Per the new proposed FDA sunscreen regulations, only mineral sunscreen ingredients zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are G.R.A.S.E. (Generally Recognized As Safe and Effective). The 12 chemical sunscreen ingredients currently in use in the United States have insufficient data to make a positive G.R.A.S.E. determination. The FDA is requesting that additional testing be done on all 12 chemical ingredients.
Reef Safe:
Mineral sunscreen ingredients are reef friendly. Although the only two ingredients have been banned in Hawaii and Key West are oxybenzone and octinoxate, we believe that the safest option for our earth is to choose a mineral sunscreen.
Tizo has a sheer finish. It's not too heavy or greasy. It comes in tinted and untinted options, and its protective properties mean you don't have to apply foundation and moisturizer. You can apply the lotion and sheer foam to your face and body! Tizo stays put and wont burn your eyes!
