About Electrolysis and FAQ:
Welcome to Mainely Electrology. We are here to provide you with caring and professional electrolysis treatments. We will create a treatment plan that is best for your skin and treat any trouble areas of which you are concerned. What is Electrolysis? Electrolysis is a method of removing individual hairs from the face or body. Electrolysis is FDA approved and has withstood tests for permanency. A very fine probe is inserted into the hair follicle at the surface of the skin. Our top of the line medical equipment destroys the hair germ cells within each follicle with chemical or heat energy. |
What Causes Unwanted Hair Growth?
There are several factors that can bring about hair growth. Hereditary, abnormal hormone levels, some drugs, some illnesses and believe it or not other methods of temporary hair removal as in derma planning, shaving, waxing, etc. can all stimulate hair growth under certain circumstances.
What Are Possible Skin Reactions?
Some redness or swelling of the treated area may occur. We will personalize each treatment with care to make sure you are comfortable with the results. These effects should fade within a few hours post-treatment.
How Long Does it Take Until The Hair is Permanently Gone?
This depends on the person and on the amount of hair that you have. A series of treatments will be created specifically for you. With regularly scheduled appointments you should notice a decrease in hair growth within 12-15 treatments.
What Does Electrolysis Feel Like?
Most clients find electrolysis comfortable and tolerable. You may experience some discomfort, however, treatments should not be excruciating or unbearable at any point. Our top of the line medical equipment delivers current 3 times faster than most devices, therefore making the energy Delivered faster and much more tolerable. Adjustments can be made at any time should you be uncomfortable.
How Does the Permanency Happen?
We destroy hair germ cells at the root of the follicle and at the bulge region where growth begins. Your hair grows in cycles and you must reach those growth cells while they are in active growing stages. If you have used other methods of temporary hair removal you may have distorted some of the hair follicles and we can work to recover smaller pores and smoother skin. Hair texture will become lighter and finer. Consistency is the key to hair permanency.
